Ignore Yomi Fabiyi's Plea.......Baba Suwe

Veteran comic actor, Babatunde Omidina, aka Baba Suwe has responded to news of his ill health as a result of the torture meted out on him by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, years ago.

His response is coming after renowned Nollywood movie director, Yomi Fabiyi called out the NDLEA on his (Suwe’s) account, accusing the NDLEA of damaging the actor’s health to an alarming state.

It would be recalled that Fabiyi had alleged that a long pipe was inserted through the actor’s anus while in NDLEA’s detention in October 2011 on the suspicion of ingestion of illicit drugs.

OPINION: Time To Rally Round Bola Tinubu, By Femi Aribisala****

Let me re-introduce myself in case you have forgotten. I have been an implacable critic of the politics of Bola Tinubu. Among others, I have written articles against Tinubu entitled:“What Does Tinubu Want?” “Time to Get Rid of Tinubu’s Cronies”; “Time to Disgrace the South-West Godfather”; and “Don’t Cry for Bola Tinubu.” I stand by every one of those articles, even though the warnings I gave in them went largely ignored.

Although many Tinubu supporters don’t seem to realise this, my opposition to Tinubu was not personal. My opposition was based on the grounds that Tinubu’s politics was shortsighted. In that regard, my position has been proved right. The strategic political objectives of Tinubu were unattainable and have been not been attained.

In the first place, Tinubu’s recent politics were designed to make him a key player at the national level, as he has been at the regional level. He really wanted to become the vice-president of Nigeria. This has proved unattainable, and we warned him about that. Most of his so-called friends at the national level are fair-weather friends. They never really liked him and were afraid of him. Under no circumstances would they allow him to duplicate his stranglehold on South-West politics outside the South-West.

RECESSION: I Can Not Predict When It Will End......... Minister Of Finance

The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has said she cannot predict when Nigeria will get out of the current economic recession. She, however, said that some of the efforts of the government to reflate the economy had started yielding results.

Speaking during an interview in Abuja, the minister said:

"I don't want to predict when we will get out of recession. Let me tell you that we'll get into growth and that's how you get out of recession, because of the stimulus that we are providing.

"And it may take longer than we would like, but we will definitely get out of it. We are already seeing some positive signs in agriculture and solid minerals; and with what we are trying to do with other sectors, I am very sure we will get out of it soon."

Bonny Export Line: MEND Condemns Bombing, Says Militants Immature.

The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has described militant group, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) as immature following the latter group’s bombing of the Bonny export line.

NDA, which was in negotiations with the Federal Government, blew up the facility on Friday, September 23, due to the ‘over-dramatization of the dialogue by President Muhammadu Buhari and his government.’

“The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) dissociates itself from the ‘holier than thou’ and arrogant attitude of the Pan-Niger Delta Group over the proposed Niger Delta Summit convened by the Federal Government,” MEND said.

“MEND also condemns in very strong terms the unstable, destructive and immature behaviour of the Niger Delta Avengers who resume hostilities at the slightest lame excuse.
