CELEBRATING WOMEN

Being a woman is not at all an easy task, most especially in this part of the world.

Right from the first flow of blood that heralds a girl into womanhood, there are responsibilities.

Responsibilities to your nuclear and extended families, to various institutions and to God.

In most cases, she’s always been told what to do, what not to do, right from her father's house to her husband's house.

Do not wash your dirty linen in public, do not bring shame to the family name.

Her biological enemy has been and will always be "MAN", but at a certain age, she's admonished: Why are you running from Men?
Why are they not coming to you?
Is there a problem somewhere, somehow what is wrong with you?.

When she does the right thing by getting married to a man, she's told to keep her home, maintain its dignity , the outcome is solely her responsibility.

If the man strays, then she's at fault: What are you doing to keep your man outside? Don’t you know how to satisfy a man?.

If he's too loving, then she must have done something to make her man a woman wrapper.

When the kids don’t come early enough, she must have been wayward, a spirit or a witch.

When they finally come, she has the responsibility of making sure they turn out well.

Yes, she's helped along the way, but when things go wrong the first thought is where is the wife? Where is the mother?.

Mother, I know it couldn’t have been an easy task, but you always reserve a smile, you fuss over your offsprings and even when they should know better, turn against you.

You hide the pain, fuss, hold back the tears and whisper it’s going to be ok.

There's no amount of money that could pay for your kind of love: Unconditional, what’s the value?.

But you should know this, your efforts over the years have been appreciated, is being appreciated and you would always hold that special place in our hearts.

How can we not but hold you dear, you who went through so much to bring us forth and smile, even in the pain, you bore no grudges.

You watched us grow, make mistakes, you scolded and yet your arms were always open.

Can your tears be measured, can they be put back? The answer is no.
To all mothers, to all women aspiring to be mothers, to wives, remember this
No gift is as precious as you are, nobody is more valuable than you.
A woman exists so that man can move on, forge ahead and find solace in their women, if in doubt ask a man.

Can you do without women? They put on the macho outlook yes, but really it scares them, the very thought.

Woman, know your worth and appreciate your value, there you feel the pride of womanhood.
