I'm going to pretend that it ended when Ted said "that's how I met your mother" and everything past that point never existed #HIMYMFinale

I mean the show is called "How I Met Your Mother" not "How I Went Back To Your Aunt Robin 20 Times" #HIMYMFinale

Seriously though, if you like How I Met Your Mother, skip the #himymfinale. Rushed, disrespectful, & undermines the last season & then some.

Let us never speak about How I Met Your Mother again.

Do yourself a favor. When Ted says “And that kids, is how I met your mother”. End the episode and pretend it cut to black. #HIMYM

I
have never been more disappointed with any series finale than "How I
Met Your Mother." I've also never felt more like rioting. #himym

Kids, let me tell you a story about how I met your mother, and then I'm going to ruin that story for everyone.
— Dan Levy (@DanLevyThinks) April 1, 2014
How I met your mother's ending turned into "How I met your mother, but preferred your aunt Robin"

These are some of the reactions to the finale of the popular series How I Met Your Mother(HIMYM).
The series ended yesterday night as Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) finally met the mother of his children (Cristin Milioti).
After nine seasons, Ted met the Mother at a bus stop after she played the bass in the band at Barney and Robin’s wedding.
But their first meeting didn’t air until the end of the episode.
Ted decided to abandon his plans to move to Chicago to be with her, and then the show skipped ahead to their engagement and the Mother’s pregnancy.
Robin then began to distance herself from the group because Barney was constantly hitting on girls, Marshall and Lily were expecting their third child, and it was difficult for her to see Ted so happy with the Mother.
Barney achieved a “perfect month,” sleeping with 31 girls in 31 consecutive days — but got the 31st girl pregnant.
He became father to a baby girl, and upon first holding her, he gave his ubiquitous pickup line to women — and meant it for the first time in his life.
Eventually, Robin resurfaced when Ted and the Mother finally got married 5 years after their engagement.
At the end of the show, we finally learn the Mother’s name — Tracy McConnell (T.M.) — and find out that she and Ted have been unknowingly sharing the same yellow umbrella (and much more) for years.
Future Ted finishes the story of how he met their mother to his two grown kids in 2030, six years after Tracy has died of an unspecified illness.
At the end of the story, the kids tell their dad he’s obviously in love with Robin, and that it’s OK to ask her out.
Ted shows up at her apartment and presents her with the blue French Horn he stole for her years ago.
And that’s how it ends!
