Where Policemen Get It Wrong.

I was coming home after a long gruelling day filled with stress and then the inevitable arguments on Boko Haram and the ineptitude of the president of the nation.

Some people were also so quick to defend the man and his position to the extent of going violent with anyone who dares to criticise him. Hmmmmm

But however it is, its no longer funny. The terrorists whichever way we look at it are winning the battle round and the Nigerian forces are squabbling, throwing accusations and generally just running around in circles.

In 2011, people stood in the scorching sun, to make their votes count. They believed so much in the mandate of President Goodluck Jonathan and they went all out to make sure he got to the throne.

Its THREE years and what have we? Sorrow, tears and blood. Its so sad and disheartening, where did we go wrong as a nation?

Is it so wrong to believe?

Anyways the question is why am i rambling? A full squad of policemen presumably from the area G police command at Ogba, Ikeja Lagos State went on a raid mission in a neighbourhood called Oke ira and molested and humilated people.

Whilst i would not fault the Police command in going about their duties especially in this precarious times, i would want them to also observe the right to human rights.

A person is innocent until proven guilty and where you go on a raid and pick people randomly and then ask them to kneel on the road without ascertaining what they did wrong should be called what it is: Police brutality.

A young man was chased, fell against a boiling pot of oil, the police went after him, dragged and beat him, then put him in their vehicle.

This is after agitations where policemen went into a bar the previous sunday in the same neighbourhood and shot in the air with no tangible reason.

People are scared and i believe security forces are humans too with the same kind of emotions, but observe the right to human dignity
