The new Emir of Kano and former CBN Governor, His Royal
Highness Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is back in court challenging his suspension by
President Goodluck Jonathan as governor of Nigeria’s central bank.
Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court, Abuja,
had in May declined taking the case on the grounds that the court lacked
jurisdiction to handle it.
Sanusi, in the originating summons, had urged the court to
restrain the defendants from “obstructing, disturbing, stopping or preventing
him in any manner whatsoever, from performing his functions as Governor of the
Central Bank’’.
When the case came up for mention on Friday, June 13 2014,
Sanusi’s counsel, Kola Awodein (SAN), asked for adjournment to enable him
consult with his client in view of his recent elevation to the position of the
Emir of Kano .
The Lead Counsel to the Attorney General, Mr Mike Ozekhome (SAN)
did not object to the application.
The case was therefore adjourned to July 4.
