Spanish world number one Rafael Nadal lost to Germany’s world number 85 Dustin Brown at the Halle grasscourt tournament on Thursday.
“I know probably the result will not be the perfect one
there,” he said after winning his ninth French Open.
Just four days after
beating Novak Djokovic, and only three days after making the requisite victory
tour of Paris, Nadal was in Germany, facing world No. 85 Dustin Brown in a
Wimbledon tune-up. The result was perfect, but only for Brown. The dreadlocked
showman knocked off the No. 1-ranked Nadal, 6-4, 6-1. Nadal had to win a game
at 0-5 in the second to avoid a bagel.
