Confirming the death of Mr. Igwe, President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), Femi Adeshina, described it as shocking.

“Yes it’s true. He was my boss, he was my mentor, I feel devastated about his death. This time last week, we were together at the NGE conference only to find out about his death this morning,” Mr Adeshina, who is also the Editor-in-Chief of Sun Newspaper, said.

Chairman of the Sun Publishing Limited, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, described the incident as the darkest day in the history of the organisation.
