Music Icon Shuns Pictures With Ladies Donning Artificial Extensions.

Global music icon Hugh Masekela recently raised eyebrows after he made a controversial remark about taking pictures with girls with artificial extension at Rhodes University.

The famous trumpeter reportedly told one weave-wearing student who had paused for photo with him that she was fortunate to take a picture with him as he doesn’t usually do so.

“You’re lucky that you were sneaky enough to have him take a picture of you next to me, otherwise I would have refused,” he said, “I don’t take pictures with girls who have your kind of hair”.

Masekela who was viewed by some who were present as arrogant went on to express his dislike for weaves at the press conference where he rubbished the idea of wearing artificial extensions and weaves saying that but he was just disturbed by what goes into it.

“We spend about a billion rand on other people’s hair each year. I don’t even know where to begin on this issue.”

Hugh Masekela had gone to the University to receive his fourth honorary doctorate.
