Kidnapping: IGP Deploys Special Squad In Ekiti.



Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase has assured the people of Ekiti of a rapid response to the spate of kidnapping in the state.

Arase gave the assurance when Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose paid him a visit.

He promised to deploy a special team in  Ekiti and Kogi states, in 48 hours to  stem the trend.

The IGP, who said the police would do everything within their power to ensure that all states of the federation were rid of people with criminal tendencies, assured the governor that Ekiti State would soon become safe for economic activities.

Earlier, the governor, who congratulated the IG on his  elevation, said he was at the Police Headquarters to intimate Arase  on the state of security in Ekiti. He said the dimension of kidnapping in the state was strange, stating that about eight people had been kidnapped in the last three weeks.

He appealed to the IGP to deploy experts from the headquarters to the state to nip the menace in the bud. He said residents of the state were becoming agitated, while the government was very concerned.

Addressing the press, the governor expressed his readiness to continue to create an enabling environment for the police to thrive in checking crime in the state.

He said all hands must be on the deck irrespective of party affiliation, to ensure a peaceful Ekiti.
