Femi Fani Kayode Attacks Emir Of Kano.
Femi Olu-Kayode (Femi Fani-Kayode) has blasted the Emir of Kano and former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor Sanusi Lamido over his allegations that $1 billion (N197bn) was stolen every month during the immediate under the Goodluck Jonathan-led administration.
The Emir of Kano in an interview with PBS news hour, an American daily evening television show in a programme titled “How a cancer of corruption steals Nigerian oil, weapons and lives” accused the past administration of massive embezzlement of oil funds through fake contracts.
Fani-Kayode described the allegation as unsubstantial adding that the Emir has lost touch with realities and possibly lost his mind too.
He also condemned President Muhammadu Buhari’s incessant defamation of the country’s image during his foreign trips.
“When I was told that the Emir said this to the American media I was left with the conclusion that he has completely lost touch with reality and possibly lost his mind.
“He should provide the evidence to prove his allegation that one billion dollars was stolen every month by Jonathan or he should just shut up and hold his peace.
“If it is not President Buhari travelling to foreign lands to criminalize and defame the Nigerian people with his malicious words and absurd generalizations it is people like Emir Sanusi Lamido. This rubbish has to stop.”
Buhari during the India-Africa Summit, which took place in New Delhi, India, tols journalists that Nigeria is broke and cannot even afford to pay salaries.
“Nigeria cannot pay salaries; the Federal Government itself has to summon the Governor of Central Bank on how it could pay salaries, not to talk of projects, agreements we signed with other countries on counterpart funding and so on.”
His statement drew flak from Nigerians who condemned him for demarketing Nigeria to discourage investors.
Sanusi has now followed suit to allege that corruption in Nigeria is worse than corruption in most parts of the world on the claim that there is no accountability.
“In Nigeria, there is no accountability at all and that is why I think Nigeria’s corruption is worse than corruption in most parts of the world. It is the worst type of corruption. It’s stealing,” he said
A few detractors of his have come out to say he implied that the Apex bank under his watch during the said administration had little or no accountability.
