I'm Sorry Doctor, I Can't.

On the first sunday of the year, with the head tie in place, everything set, she headed out to say thank you to God, alas on getting to the entrance of the church she had a fall that left her wrist strained .

The doctor came and said ma'am , you would need to get a hand x-ray and then we'll know what we are dealing with, but from my observation, seems you are going to need a minor surgery to put the hand back in place.

The four year old in the room looking at his grandmother in pains asked innocently: why not call my mum to call alhaji for you?

Alhaji is in the business of setting bones, when you twist, sprain or break, they come and set it back in place for you.

But the doctor said madam no, those people actually make things worse. Hmmm, but the little boy was talking out of experience,he had broken his arm and was taken to different specialists before the Alhaji was called and he fixed the arm.

Yours truly had also experienced a broken arm way back and it was set back in place the traditional way, weeks of excruciating pain, but in all, the arm was placed back.

So pondering on what the doctor said that they make things worse, i'm not in the medical profession so i can not argue with a trained physiotherapist, but i must comment based on experience. Every person in his or her own field make mistakes before perfecting their art, but these traditional bone setters , can we really ignore their input?

I'm sorry Doc, i can't.

TIA
