Uyo Ukonne graduated
from New Jersey City University on May 15th. In a celebratory mood,
he went rafting with friends a week later, only to drown in the Delaware River.
Uyo, who had just graduated from New Jersey City University
with a degree in chemistry, had been rafting down the river at 1pm with friends
when he took off his life jacket and jumped into the water to swim. His friends
say after he went into the river, he surfaced once, sank again and disappeared.
His death has been ruled accidental drowning. He drowned
after jumping into the river without a life jacket while on a rafting trip near
Lumberland, N.Y. with friends.
What a sad loss.
