Stephen Keshi Made Good His Promise: Nig 1 __ Bosnia-0

Nigeria won their first World Cup game in 16 years courtesy of Peter Odemwingie’s solitary strike against Bosnia-Herzegovinaon Saturday.

The forward combined with striker Emmanuel Emenike to make a nuisance of the Bosnian defence and score in the 29th minute of the encounter.

Keshi opted to drop Liverpool’s Victor Moses, after their rather dismal performance against Iran.

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi  expressed his delight over his side’s 1-0 defeat of Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday night at the ongoing 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil

The striker slotted past Stoke City team-mate Asmir Begovic at the Arena Pantanal, although Bosnia were unfortunate not to have led eight minutes earlier when an Edin Dzeko goal was incorrectly ruled out for offside.

“I am happy that we won the game and the boys showed a little bit of character,” Keshi said after the game.

He also admitted to the fact that he was panicky during the course of the game as his men failed to increase their lead while claiming that his side is making a steady progress in the tourney.

“Well, that is football. You can never have a smooth ride because you always have something on the way but the good thing is that we won and everyone is happy.

“In summary, I will say we are getting better at every game.”

Nigeria will play against Argentina on wednesday.
