Youths Protests Emergence Of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi As New Emir Of Kano.



The former governor of the Central Bank (CBN), Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was named the new Emir of Kano on Sunday, June 8, 2014 by  the Secretary to the Kano state Government, Rabi’u Sulaiman Bichi, declared Mallam Sanusi as the Emir of Kano on behalf of the state governor, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. 


The global financial intelligence magazine, The Banker, published by the Financial Times,  conferred on Sanusi two awards, the global award for Central Bank Governor of the Year, as well as for Central Bank Governor of the Year for Africa, while TIME magazine listed him in its TIMES 100 list of most influential people of 2011. Sanusi takes over from the former Emir, Ado Bayero who passed away on Friday, June 6, 2014 after a brief illness.

Meanwhile Irate youths took to the streets in protest setting bonfires around Kofar Nassarawa, which leads to the states government house.

Former Silver Jubilee round-about has also been blocked by protesters compelling motorists to fix leaves to their windscreens.

The town streets are being hurriedly deserted by pedestrians and motorists.

Security forces have been mobilised for crowd dispersal. Police men have been stationed in strategic round-abouts.
