The All Progressives Congress (APC) says all states under
its control will declare two days of public holiday before the February 14,
2015 presidential election so that members of the public who have not collected
their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) will be able to do so.
The decision was
announced at the ongoing presidential campaign rally of the party at the Teslim
Balogun Stadium, Surulere, lagos. Although no specific dates were mentioned,
APC said the two days chosen would be revealed “before the February 14
presidential election”.
But Attahiru Jega, chairman of the Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC) dismissed the call for postponement, expressing certainty
that the commission would overcome its challenges before the election. Before
Dasuki’s call, INEC mulled the idea of “fresh registration for eligible persons
who have not registered and those having issues with their PVCs”.
