Lagos High Court sitting in
Igbosere, yesterday fixed June 11 for the hearing of a suit by some residents
of Lekki Scheme 1 to stop ASCON Oil Ltd from constructing a filling station in
the area.
The plaintiffs are Chief Rasheed
Williams, Chief Kayode Aderinokun, Alhaji Useni, Mr Malachy Ezeoke, Mrs
Ogunmokun and Mr Olajide Kuti.
Joined as defendants are the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority and the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development.
The residents claim that the
construction and operation of the petrol station by ASCON on the land would
pose a threat to their lives, health and property in form of pollution.
They also said they would be exposed
to serious danger and threat of fire or explosion by the station.
