An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Friday
remanded Uchechukwu Alagbaso, 25, in the custody of the Ikoyi Prisons over the
alleged murder of his elder brother, Obinna Alagbaso.
The accused, who resides at 16, Amai St., Amukoko, in Lagos,
is facing a one-count charge of murder.
The Magistrate, Mr M.O. Tanimola, ordered that the accused
be kept in prison custody, pending legal advice from the Office of the Lagos
State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The prosecutor, Cpl. Cyriacus Osuji, told the court that the
crime was committed on Oct.16 at 10.00 a.m., at the residence of the accused.
Osuji said that the accused and the deceased were brothers
living together, when the incident happened.
“The deceased and the accused had a misunderstanding, which
led to an argument.
“The deceased slapped the accused on his face, the accused
got angry and stabbed the deceased on the neck with a kitchen knife.
“The accused screamed for help leading to the deceased being
rushed to a hospital to seek medical assistance but died in the process,” Osuji
said.
The prosecutor said that the body of the deceased had been
deposited at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) mortuary for
autopsy.
He said that the offence contravened Section 221 of the
Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The magistrate adjourned the case until Dec.2, for mention.
