Court Remands 25 Year Old In Prison For Killing Brother.

An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Friday remanded Uchechukwu Alagbaso, 25, in the custody of the Ikoyi Prisons over the alleged murder of his elder brother, Obinna Alagbaso.

The accused, who resides at 16, Amai St., Amukoko, in Lagos, is facing a one-count charge of murder.

The Magistrate, Mr M.O. Tanimola, ordered that the accused be kept in prison custody, pending legal advice from the Office of the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the court did not take the plea of the accused.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Cyriacus Osuji, told the court that the crime was committed on Oct.16 at 10.00 a.m., at the residence of the accused.

Osuji said that the accused and the deceased were brothers living together, when the incident happened.

“The deceased and the accused had a misunderstanding, which led to an argument.

“The deceased slapped the accused on his face, the accused got angry and stabbed the deceased on the neck with a kitchen knife.

“The accused screamed for help leading to the deceased being rushed to a hospital to seek medical assistance but died in the process,” Osuji said.

The prosecutor said that the body of the deceased had been deposited at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) mortuary for autopsy.

He said that the offence contravened Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The magistrate adjourned the case until Dec.2, for mention. (NAN)
