Super Eagles of Nigeria yesterday at the Abuja National
Stadium revived their dream of going to Morocco 2015 Africa Cup of Nations
(AFCON) championship with a 3-1 win over the Falcons of Sudan.
Rising from their meeting early on Thursday morning, the
Nigeria Football Federation in a communique signed by the Chairman of the
Communique Drafting Committee, Hon. Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande, unanimously praised
the excellent contributions of the technical crew of the Senior National Team,
led by Keshi, to the glorious accomplishments of the team in the past three
years.
The NFF hailed Keshi, Daniel Amokachi and Ike Shorounmu as
true national heroes.
The NFF, however, said in the interest of Nigerian football
and the desire to ensure qualification for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations
finals, it has decided to relieve Keshi, Amokachi and Shorunmu of their duties
with immediate effect.
The Committee also, unanimously, approved the appointment of
a consortium of coaches to lead the Super Eagles for only the two concluding
matches of the 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifying series.
This will be against Congo in Brazzaville and South Africa
in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The NFF said it is after the matches that an expatriate
coach will be appointed.
The consortium, led by Amodu Shaibu, has Salisu Yusuf,
Gbenga Ogunbote and Aloysius Agu as members.
The team also has a new Coordinator in former international,
Garba Lawal, while Toyin Ibitoye is the new Media Officer and Godfirst Chike is
the new Equipment Manager.
Team Secretary, Enebi Achor, is retained.
