NBA Restates Appeal On Abducted President.

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), on Monday, restated its appeal to the abductors of its immediate past president, Okey Wali, to release him immediately.

In a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja, the NBA president, Augustine Alegeh, said he had to cancel his plan to attend the International Bar Association Conference in Tokyo, Japan and had maintained personal regular contact with the family and all relevant agencies.

He said the association was deeply saddened by the fact that its 26th president, Okey Wali, who was abducted by unknown persons since Saturday, October 11, 2014, had still not been released by his abductors.

“NBA members are concerned about his safety, health and well-being after 10 days in captivity. Okey Wali is a peace-loving man who has worked assiduously for the enthronement of rule of law and protection of human rights. He does not deserve to be put through this harrowing experience,” the statement said.

The NBA, he said, appreciated that efforts at securing Wali’s release are currently in progress and advised members to remain calm and patient and not to take any steps that may jeopardise in any way the efforts aimed at securing his safe release from captivity.
