Luis Enrique Equals Pep Guardiola’s 28-Match Unbeaten Streak For FC Barcelona.

Barcelona defeated Levante 2-0 and tied its all-time record of 28 consecutive games without losing on Sunday.

Barcelona took the lead with an own goal by defender David Navarro in the 21st and sealed the victory with an injury-time goal by Luis Suarez to match the unbeaten streak set by Pep Guardiola's team in the 2010-11 season.

The result also kept Barcelona atop the Spanish league with 54 points, three more than Atletico Madrid,  Real Madrid is seven points off the lead going into its game at Granada later Sunday. Barcelona will have a game in hand at the end of the 23rd round this weekend.

The 2-0 defeat of Levante means that Barça have now gone 28 games unbeaten in all competitions, matching the all-time record for Spanish football set by Pep Guardiola’s amazing team of 2010/11.

Barça have not lost since the 2-1 reverse at Sevilla on October 3. They have since put together 23 wins and five draws to move top of the league with a game in hand, into the last sixteen of the UEFA Champions League and are also practically through to the Copa del Rey Final after a 7-0 win in the first leg.

The 127-day run has included the magnificent 4-0 win over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu and victory in the Club World Cup in Japan. Among the few setbacks was the 0-0 draw with Espanyol to start the year, but the response to that has been a run of ten wins on the trot, including a vital 2-1 defeat of Atlético to leave the Blaugrana comfortably clear at the top of the Liga table.

Now that the record has been equalled, Barça are now aiming to set a new all-time best when they return to Valencia on Wednesday night, this time to Mestalla in the cup.
